These courses:

  • review the current IHIE Guidelines as the basis for the development of Home Zones in the UK;
  • review the experience from the Home Zone Challenge that has expanded the knowledge base, following the implementation of 59 retrofit schemes across England, looking in detail at the various stages of implementation; and
  • apply these techniques to new-build developments, and particularly how to get developers interested in adopting the concept in practical terms and the issues this raises for the local authority in approving and adopting the final layouts.

Practical exercises will also be given on all aspects of achieving a successful Home Zone from identification to construction.

The first series of courses was held in Leeds (on 13 December 2005), Winchester (16 January 2006) and Birmingham (31 January 2006). Further courses are arranged when there is sufficient demand.  Please let us know if you would be interested in attending a future course.
